I know this may sound illogical but the ECM or PCM(05-06) doesn't communicate with the TCM directly, the information via GMLan goes from ECM or PCM(05-06) to BCM through a tri-state buffer that squares off the signal and from there it goes to the TCM and other CPUs like radio for chimes, RCDLR, TDM, cluster and so on. ThanksĪctually I found 3 causes for this similar problem. What is the next step here? I am thinking I should pull the connector for TCM and check if I am getting constant power and a good ground? What do you all suggest? Does anyone have the pin out diagrams for the 2005 TCM, BCM, and ECM so I know what to check or can you provide me which pins would be a place to start? I appreciate any help you all can provide. I can reset this code with my code reader and the car will run fine for a few days at which time the same problem reappears. I also tried grounding the TCM to the drivers side strut ground location which did not work. Next I removed grounds G105 and G301 and cleaned with wire wheel. No signs of bent, burned or corroded pins etc. Also pulled ECM and TCM connectors to inspect and clean. Pulled C1/C2 and the red plug on BCM to inspect and clean which all looked good. So far I have pulled ECM/TCM fuse above BCM and in engine bay fuse panel and cleaned, they didn't look bad. Gauges going crazy etc., which seem to be common symptoms. I got a U101 code with Loss of communication with TCM on my daughters 2005 Cobalt LS.
